Spain phone number format

Spain numbers carry the +34 country code and are written in full, with no separate national trunk prefix. Mobile and fixed-line ranges are distinguished by their leading digits and returned as a line_type you can filter on.

Spain mobile operators & prefixes

Each mobile prefix is allocated to a specific operator. Veriphone returns that operator from the CNMC (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia) numbering plan, along with line type.

Each prefix belongs to one operator — but a number can be ported. The prefix tells you the operator a number was originally allocated to. Because Spain allows number portability, a number can keep its prefix after switching networks, so the prefix alone doesn't guarantee the operator serving it today. Questions about Spain number validation

Does a leading 6 versus 7 tell you fixed line versus mobile?

No — both 6 and 7 are mobile ranges; fixed lines start with 9 or 8. Only the 70x block differs, being personal/redirect numbering rather than an ordinary mobile.

Can I read the carrier off the number's prefix?

Not reliably. Since portability arrived in 2000 the prefix only shows the original allocation; a 6xx block once assigned to Movistar may now be served by Vodafone, MasOrange or Digi. Use mode=current for the operator currently serving a ported number.

Is Lebara one of Spain's major carriers?

No. Lebara is an MVNO that rides on the MasOrange (Orange) network. The actual network operators are Movistar, Vodafone, MasOrange (Orange/Yoigo) and Digi.

Does Spain need a trunk 0 before the number?

No. It is a closed plan with no trunk prefix — dial the full nine digits nationally, and the 9 or 8 at the start of a landline is simply the first digit of the number, not an access code.
